Sports Ministry ranges from baseball to multi-sport clinics and is a powerful outreach tool for schools, churches, and athletic teams. About the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is SCORE’s oldest established location, with headquarters in the beach town of Juan Dolio, about 20 minutes east of Santo Domingo’s airport. SCORE has missionaries across the country, giving teams opportunities to serve in a variety of ways throughout the island.

Sharing the island of Hispaniola with Haiti, the D.R. is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea and features diverse geography—nearly 80% is mountainous. Of the country’s 10 million residents, 2.5 million live in the capital, Santo Domingo, and over 10% are of Haitian descent. While about 85% of Dominicans identify as Roman Catholic, many also engage in occult practices. The average annual income is around $5,000.

Weather: The climate of the D.R. is tropical year-round. It has a dry season in the winter and a rainy season during the summer. The temperatures stay above 70° median year-round. If traveling in the mountains the temperature can sometimes drop below 70°.
