2011PastoPic-150x150Jerry Walls was born in Montgomery, Alabama to the late LJ & Jo Walls. He came to Christ in 1967 at Camp Victory in Hacoda, Alabama and surrendered to preach on August 16, 1971.

Jerry graduated from Tennessee Temple in 1976. He is married to the former Debra Spears, who also graduated from Temple in 1976. They have 3 children Matthew, Jake and Stephen, and ten grandchildren. All are involved in serving the Lord.

In 1976, after graduating from Tennessee Temple with a B.A. in Bible, Jerry became the youth pastor at Central Baptist in Panama City, Florida and served there for 6 years. After Panama City, he went to Bay Minette, Alabama to pastor Bethel Baptist Church.

The Walls moved to Warner Robins in 1987 to serve at Southside Baptist Church. At that time Southside was averaging approximately 125 in attendance. The church relocated its facilities in 2000 and built a worship center that seats 1300. In 2003 they went to two services. In September of 2009, they started a third service on Saturday night and in August of 2010 opened a second campus in Kathleen, GA.

Over the last 25 years the church has grown to average over 2500 in attendance. Current ministries include Celebrate Recovery, an addiction recovery program with over 300 in attendance, and Mission Point, a church planting ministry in Costa Rica and Dominican Republic.

Jerry currently serves on the Board of Score International and Tim Lee Ministries. He also serves on the Georgia-Robins Aerospace Partnership Committee in Warner Robins.

In May 2006 he received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Tennessee Temple University, in May 2011 he received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Trinity Baptist College and in January 2012 he received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Emmanuel Theological Seminary, Rajasthan, India.

Plans are now being made to build a new worship center that will seat over 2100.
