FAST FACTS ABOUT THE COUNTRY
The Republic of Panama with an area of approximately 29,700 sq. Miles (76,900 sq. km.), located between Costa Rica and Colombia, forms the narrowest and lowest portion of the Isthmus that links North and South America. The population of Panama is approximately 3.3 million, about 52 percent of which is urban.
Spanish is the Official language of the country, but many of the people in Panama City and Colón speak English. The predominant religion is Roman Catholicism.
The American dollar is the standard currency in use in Panama, so visitors with American currency don’t need to exchange money.

There will be access to internet at the lodging facility, but not in the rural areas where mission work takes place. We ask the leader of the group to send out updates everyday. Callings cards bought in the United States may NOT work. Calls to the numbers below are for emergencies ONLY.
Passports are required to go to Panama! It can take up to 8 weeks to obtain your passport. This means you must apply for your passport very early! You need to apply at your local post office to obtain a passport. The cost is about $120 and it is good for 10 years. Before the trip you will need to make a photocopy of your passport to carry in a separate bag in case you lose your passport. Passports must be valid at least 90 days after the date of travel.
