KOSMOS Honduras 2015
On October 8-10, 2015 we had our very first KOSMOS in Honduras. This youth missions conference was like previous KOSMOS conferences SCORE has done with a focus on missions, but was unique in that it only included Honduran nationals, no North American teens. Executive Director, John Zeller, was the key note speaker challenging the youth to use the gifts they already have as believers. We all have Time, Talents, our Temple and Treasures that we can use to reach the lost.
Our SCORE Intl. team in Honduras partnered with the baptist youth convention in San Pedro Sula (AJOBADEC) as well as the baptist pastors convention (ASIBAC) to put on a youth conference unlike any that has been done prior. We had teaching sessions each morning and evening, but in the afternoon we sent the youth out to put the teaching into practice. On Friday afternoon the group split between a building project at the Second Baptist Church and street evangelism at busy San Pedro Sula intersections. On Saturday the whole group served at a feeding program run by one of the local churches. We also raised money for the church to continue its construction and to send an offering to Honduran missionaries who were commissioned last month to 2 muslim countries.
We had some great break out sessions on topics such as Evangelism, Sports Outreach, Ministering to the Poor, Educational Outreach and Camp Ministry. Speakers included SCORE missionaries Rob Lyerly (Executive Assistant), Daniel and Evi Bardales and Dario and Keila Matute as well as a guest missionary from Sparrow Ministries, Cris Lopez. The goal was to highlight ministries already established where Honduran youth could plug into according to their interest and talents.
There was also some awesome worship times as our band from Iglesia Bautista Renacer (Born Again Baptist Church) lead in song. Our hearts were stirred and our minds were prepared to receive the Word from John before each message. We closed out our time with a mini concert praising God for who He is and what He will do with us.
Thank you to everyone who prayed. We look forward to reaching more Honduran youth with KOSMOS next year.
